Flyford Flavell First School Parent Teacher Association
Welcome to the PTA section of the school website. Here you can see photos of what we've been up to and find out about future events.
What does the PTA do?
Every year the PTA raises thousands of pounds to fund the 'extras' that are not provided by the school's budget and which make our children's learning experience even more fulfilling and exciting. In the past year alone we have funded laptops and a video camera, the remarking of the playground, instruments and polo shirts for Bell Club, and made a donation towards the refurbishment of the school hall. The majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run, events such as the Summer Fete, Christmas Fayre, Quiz Night and Chocolate Bingo.
Is it just about fundraising?
Fundraising is of course a really important part of what we do, but the PTA is much more than simply that. The PTA strengthens the link between home and school, bringing staff, parents and children together socially in support of the school. We hold free termly discos for the children, bake cakes and serve tea at school events, and cook and serve Christmas lunch to the whole school on the Christmas Party Day. Whatever the event, we work together as a team and have lots of fun along the way. The PTA is a great way for new parents to make friends.
When does the PTA meet?
We usually meet about twice each half term and sometimes when there is an event to be organised a sub-committee may arrange to meet more frequently. Meetings are held in the evenings at school or in the local pub and new members are always very welcome. The date, location and time of the next meeting are posted on the PTA notice board at school along with information on upcoming events. If you would like to help out but cannot attend the meetings you can join the Friends of the PTA and we will send you regular updates of what we are up to and details of how you can help out.
