Welcome to Year 2 and 3
There are twenty one of us in Year 2 and Year 3 and we are known as the Toucans class. Our teacher is Mr. Cocker and our Learning Support Assistant is Mrs. Rae.
Our topic this half term is to answer the question ‘What is Space like?’ We will be exploring the history of Space transport. We will be investigating making our own forms of rockets and how improvements can be made, pioneers who led us there and what might be required for life in Space! In English we are going to be learning about using a wider range of punctuation, including commas and apostrophes for contractions and possession. We will be writing to inform and focusing on non-fiction texts. In Maths we will be learning more about statistics, geometry, fractions and measures. We will also continue to problem solve in a variety of ways.

Our Year Two topic this half term is to answer the question ‘Where in the World?’. We will be exploring where important countries to us are, their capital cities, flags and landmarks, world travel and comparing them to Worcester and its tourist attractions! In Science we will be investigating food groups, the importance of eating the right amounts of different foods and exercise. In English we are writing to entertain with rich and varied vocabulary and different sentence structures. In Mathematics we will learning to apply multiplication, division, geometry and statistics.
Our Year Two topic this half term is ‘the Great Fire of London’. We will be be learning about the fire, fire safety then and now and asking the question "Why has there not been such a great fire in recent times?". The children will be designing, making and evaluating Tudor houses and investigating materials in Science. In English we are using noun phrases and adverbial phrases to inform. In Mathematics we will learning to apply place value with addition and subtraction, multiplication and division.
Our topic this half term is ‘the Sea’. We will be exploring the topic through the question ‘What lives under the sea?’ We will be focusing our geography skills on learning about a contrasting location and its geographical features. In English we are going to be using different word classes and organising paragraphs. In Mathematics we will learning to apply place value with addition and subtraction.
